Maserati is in rough waters, and calling it a “challenging period” would be a serious understatement. Stellantis, Maserati’s parent company, has already paused EV production at least until early February 2025. Additionally, the Italian luxury brand is axing several models, including the Ghibli sedan, the iconic Quattroporte, and the Levante SUV.
By streamlining its lineup, Maserati is left with just the MC20 supercar, the compact Grecale SUV, and the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models. Notably, production of the Levante, one of Maserati’s most well-known models since its debut in 2016, has also been discontinued as the brand reassesses its strategy.

Newly appointed CEO Santo Ficili acknowledges that Maserati’s road to recovery won’t be easy, especially as the company doesn’t expect to turn a profit this year. However, some enthusiasts and designers believe Maserati should reconsider the Levante’s departure. Among them is Giorgi Tedoradze, a digital automotive artist better known as tedoradze.giorgi on social media.
In his latest CGI concept, Tedoradze envisions a 2026 Maserati Levante that could take on the competitive mid-size luxury SUV market once again. His design presents a sleeker, sportier alternative to models like the Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, Genesis GV80, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Lexus RX. With its aggressive styling, the CGI Levante would more directly challenge high-performance rivals like the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport.
One of Maserati’s key missteps has been pricing its models too close to ultra-luxury SUVs like the Aston Martin DBX. If the brand repositioned the Levante to compete more directly with the Range Rover Sport and Cayenne, it could attract more buyers and improve sales without sacrificing exclusivity.
Tedoradze’s concept retains the Levante’s signature sleek profile but introduces sharper, more aggressive design elements. The oversized grille now resembles the fierce expression of an angry shark, while the sculpted front fascia enhances the SUV’s sporty appeal. At the rear, stacked dual exhaust outlets on each side reinforce its performance-oriented character.
While this 2026 Levante exists only in the digital realm, it raises an interesting question: should Maserati give its popular SUV another shot? With the brand’s future hanging in the balance, reviving the Levante might not be such a bad idea.
