Lexus had a strong year in 2024, boosting global deliveries by 3.3% to 851,214 units. Key contributors to this success included the launch of the compact LBX and the new-generation GX. Looking ahead, the brand is set to build on this momentum with refinements to the UX, updates to the NX and RX, and a refreshed LX lineup, including the all-new LX 700h.
However, some digital automotive artists believe Lexus should push even further. One such visionary is Evren Ozgun from the Spy Sketch YouTube channel, who has envisioned a radically different take on the Lexus RX 500h—one that breaks away from conventional design norms.
Despite the fifth-generation Lexus RX being relatively new—it debuted for the 2023 model year—this rendering imagines an entirely new sixth-generation model arriving years ahead of schedule, possibly for 2026 or 2027. While Lexus’ signature illuminated spindle grille remains, much of the rest of the design is drastically reimagined.
The rendering features a bold widebody treatment with muscular fender flares, giving the RX a more aggressive stance. The hidden LED headlights and ultra-slim taillights add a futuristic touch, while the most surprising element is the inclusion of coach doors—a feature typically associated with luxury vehicles like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Ferrari Purosangue.
Not stopping at just one concept, the digital artist has now introduced a second iteration of the design. This version adopts a striking two-tone color scheme, blending a sleek gray base with a black roof and pillars. However, the real standout detail is the addition of light blue accents, which appear on the front fascia, hood, side sills, window surrounds, rear bumper, and even the custom black-and-blue alloy wheels.
With the current Lexus RX starting at around $50,000 in the U.S., the question remains—should Lexus take a leap into such bold styling choices for its next generation, or is the existing design formula strong enough to continue its success? While this CGI concept is purely speculative, it certainly sparks conversation about what the future of Lexus SUVs could look like.
What do you think? Would you welcome a dramatically redesigned Lexus RX, or should Lexus stick to its traditional evolution strategy?
