Despite ongoing demand from enthusiasts, BMW’s M Division remains uninterested in producing an official M7. The closest alternative remains the i7 M70 xDrive, an all-electric powerhouse that debuted nearly two years ago.
This high-performance luxury sedan delivers an impressive 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque and 650 hp (659 PS/485 kW), allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds. However, this exhilarating performance is exclusive to BMW’s EV lineup.
Electrifying Performance and Range
The i7 M70 xDrive shares its 101.7 kWh battery pack with the xDrive60 variant, providing an estimated range of 268–285 miles (431–459 km) per charge. Charging at a Level 2 station takes around 12 hours, and its electronically limited top speed stands at 130 mph (210 km/h). The model carries a starting price of $168,500, as per BMW’s official site.
A Look at the Most Powerful Gas-Powered 7 Series
For those who prefer internal combustion, the most potent option in the 2026 BMW 7 Series lineup is the 760i xDrive. Under the hood, it houses a 4.4L twin-turbo V8, generating 536 hp (544 PS/400 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, enabling a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 4.1 seconds.
The 760i xDrive has an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h), which can be increased to 155 mph (250 km/h) with an optional package. Pricing for this model starts at $122,400.
While a true BMW M7 remains a dream, these flagship EV and ICE variants continue to push the limits of luxury and performance.
